Who’s my absolute favorite tends to depend on my mood, but overall it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas
Yeah I have a type
But beyond just general aesthetics, I really did enjoy Thane’s romance in ME2 because it wasn’t just a romance, it was a story about how someone who felt that he had literally nothing left to live for found hope for the future.
When you meet Thane, he’s pretty much at the end of his rope. He hasn’t seen his son in over a decade, he lives with no friends, and he’s coping with an illness that is probably going to kill him if his job doesn’t first. The guy’s life is pretty glum. He outright says that he planned for the Nassana job to be a suicide run.
But with Shepard, romancing or not, that changes everything. He has a chance to erase his perceived sins by helping millions and millions of people in the galaxy, he connects with his son again, he at least connects with Shepard if not the other crewmates. He finds a purpose in his life for whatever time he has.
But with a romanced Shepard, it’s something different. He lost his will to carry on when he lost his wife. He’s carried around the guilt of Irikah’s death for years, knowing that it was his profession that ultimately lead to her death and to his strained relationship with Kolyat, and it’s obviously had an impact on him. But with Shepard he finally has the chance to move on, not in the sense of forgetting Irikah but forgiving himself and learn to step out of the shadow her death caused. I really enjoyed this because I kinda hate the theme of YOUR ONE TRUE LOVE because it means that if things don’t work out or end horribly, you’re basically fucked and doomed to mourn them forever, and that’s kind of a horrible thing to want someone you love to go through.
A lot of people criticized the romance as being pointless because of the timespan that we were possibly being given in ME2. He’s dying, who cares, he won’t be around forever. But for me, the possibility of him dying (because that’s all it was at the time) made the theme of it all the more poignant. Someone’s worth, someone’s love, shouldn’t hinge on how much time they have left. No one really knows when or how they’re going to die, so love is always a chance of how long it’ll last.
For Shepard and Thane, it’s even riskier because not just Kepral’s, but because of the suicide mission in general, and even if they both survive that, the Reapers are coming and they know not everyone’s getting out alive.
And it scares Thane. For the first time in a long time, Thane realizes that he’s afraid to die, to lose the things that he’s found again like his son and now Shepard. It’s such a difference to see the man in the romance scene before the Omega 4 Relay and the stoic all-business guy who had shut off from himself and everyone else.
So the romance isn’t just about Thane falling in love, it’s about Thane coming to terms with his past, with his future, and finding hope in a dark place in his life that even if his time is short, he can still be loved and give love in return.
p.s., no I’m not gonna talk about what happened in ME3 ‘cause as far as I’m concerned, it didn’t even happen.
this is beautiful
Your wonderful Mitt Romney:
- laid off thousands of workers as head of the investment company Bain Capital.
- set up shell companies in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda to avoid U.S. taxes.
- calls Obama’s payroll tax cut that would save middle class/lower income families $1,500 a year “temporary little band aids.”
- plan for a “middle class tax cut” would provide zero benefits to 73.9 percent of the middle class.
- called for taxes on the poor, saying low-income Americans having no income tax liability is “a problem” that will “kill the country.”
- would repeal the Dodd-Frank bill, which regulates the risky practices that led to the 2008 crisis.
- said he wants to “get the federal government out of education
- As governor, vetoed a minimum wage increase to $8 an hour.
- said he “cannot see that a Cabinet position would be justified” for an American Muslim.
- opposes troop withdrawal from Iraq.
- said that catching bin Laden would be “insignificant” and it’s “not worth moving heaven and earth.”
- supports drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
- supports penalties for doctors who perform an abortion.
- would “absolutely” support a state constitutional amendment to define life as beginning at conception, which would restrict women’s right to an abortion.
- pledged to expand a Bush-Era policy of permitting doctors to deny women access to contraceptives.
- drafted a bill to exempt a religious group from nondiscrimination rules, allowing it to ban gay couples from adopting children.
- refused to condemn the booing of a gay soldier at a GOP debate.
- blamed pornography for the Virginia Tech shooting. (WTF?)
- first act as president would be to allow all states to opt out of health reform through executive action, which would be illegal.
- feels Americans’ pain because he’s “also unemployed.” Romney was worth $250 million in 2008.
- won’t release his tax returns.
- “loves” george bush
- thinks windows in airplanes should open
- believes that rapists should have parental rights over children resulting from the rape they committed.
So no, YOU do your research. If that last three, especially, don’t make you think Romney is a complete idiot, then you’re on some other shit.
This
oh my god I thought the last one was a JOKE, jfc
THE LAST ONE IS NOT A JOKE. REPEAT THE LAST ONE IS NOT A JOKE. PLEASE DEAR GOD STOP ROMNEY FROM BEING PRESIDENT.
Yeah, just to clarify: no part of #9 is a joke. All those things sound like gross exaggerations that would be unfair, horrible things to say about a person were they not true. Unfortunately, every single one of them is.
Actually, I’d like to clarify something about #9.
The man who was assaulted was attacked by Mitt and a few of Mitt’s friends, yes, but he was not gay. That’s what makes it worse. He was NOT gay, but Mitt and his friends suspected he was gay simply because he came to school with what can only be described as an 80s-appropriate hairstyle. Because his bangs were longer than the hair at the back of his head, they decided it was a clear indication that he was a homosexual and they sought to “fix” that by forcibly cutting his hair. The man, however, was not gay and due to the bullying he received from Mitt, Mitt’s friends, and several people in the aftermath of what Mitt and his friends did, the man committed suicide.
I would also like to note that this occurred while Mitt Romney was in college.
It wasn’t elementary school, when you could at least blame parents and school faculty for not intervening. It wasn’t even during high school, when you’re expected to be completely immature and there’s still enough accountability to assign to parents and teachers that chose not to intervene. It was during college. They were all adults and they behaved that way toward someone they suspected could be gay because of their chosen style of hair.
When Mitt was confronted with the fact that the man went on to kill himself as a result of having no self-esteem or self-worth after having been so cruelly taunted, bullied, and assaulted, he brushed the subject off and said, “kids will be kids.” Except you weren’t a child, you weren’t even a teenager. You were an adult and you went unpunished for your criminal assault of another human being, and that person is now dead because of the things you and your friends drilled into his head. Negative infinity points for Romney.
I am not yet old enough to vote but please please please if you are 18, register and vote. It does matter. I sound like those MTV campaigns but I don’t care. VOTE. No really, seriously. V O T E.

But we’ll change Captain Marvel’s iconic name, make several happily married and iconic couples unmarried, change Wonder Woman, Superman’s and Batman’s iconic costumes. Right. All about iconic, DC.
we want ICONIC so we will SPLIT UP CLARK AND LOIS, the SINGLE MOST ICONIC COUPLE OF DC…
I am British I whisper as I purposely spell words with U’s.
I AM AMERICAN I SHOUT AS I DEEP FRY MY FREEDOM.
I’ve seen a lot of valid arguements circulating tumblr, both for and against the boobs and butt poses. On the “for” side, there are times where it makes sense for both genders. I saw the baseball bat example used, which is a very legitimate reason for both ends being visible to the camera.
But, there are facts that need to be considered.
I’ve studied different forms of martial arts, and what I’ve learned is that power comes from pivoting — not twisting the spine, which is often confused as the same thing. My instructor(s) taught me to gain power from the hips, even when simply punching. Power comes from the entire body.
Here’s an inherent problem:
(source: Escher Girls)
The tension in her body is simply in her shoulders and arm. It’s easy to recognize someone who hasn’t been thoroughly trained when an attack consists simply of throwing the fist forward.
The foreshortening sort of killed me, which is why it’s so sketchy. But mostly it’s for the idea and the shapes (and I didn’t draw with any references, so I apologize again if these aren’t a hundred percent anatomically accurate).
The point here was to highlight tension — to accentuate force and momentum. Because her hips and ribcage tilt at these particular angles, and because the camera is positioned at a higher level, we CAN see the B&B. It’s not impossible and not improbable, as I’ve demonstrated before.
But the problem is that we see a LOT of it.
I mean, A LOT.
I sketched this as an alternative (although it would look much more believable if the two of them were close to the same plane
but I won’t point that out). I tried to give her the sense of exhaling, because shouting when attacking provides additional strength from the solar plexus. The twisting of the body is to give the sense of movement. The foreshortening isn’t as obvious here, though…………. :{ sorry.
So, yes, B&B can be practical and make sense, and it can be a believable pose if made believable. But it’s not often made believable, and it’s done in such excess that it’s become a device for subtle sexualization of women that many people accept.
That’s not good.
A B&B pose for the sake of consumption means that it’s okay to portray women as objects for sexual satisfaction in the public sphere. It’s to the point where I’ve read that redrawing a B&B pose into something more sensible makes the pose less “dynamic”.
(Source: Escher Girls)
This pose is mostly believable, but is it necessary? Does it need to be this way?
I imagined her swinging her leg around to brace herself. If something jumps at me, I naturally step back and block with the opposite arm. A body will balance itself naturally, as described in this much more in-depth post.
In an alternate version, I tried to make her look more surprised and less prepared by varying her hips and legs only slightly:
She’s leaning back more, less twisted. In photography, a pose is interesting if the model grants as many different levels and shapes as possible — that’s what makes a pose dynamic, not if you can get both breasts and cheeks to face the camera.
So, in essence, yes: a B&B pose can make sense. But it’s done so excessively that women can’t seem to do anything except show their assets to the camera, and instilling this idea into minds who are sensitive to their bodies can be damaging and cause people to develop unreleastic expectations of themselves and others.
I MEAN COME ON.
(Source: Escher Girls)
Batman and Super Man are facing the camera, ready to slap some bitches. What the heck is Wonder Woman doing over there? Why is this okay?
Would it be okay if Super Man and Wonder Woman were switched?
Of course not. Men don’t generally
and can’tpose like that.So why is it female superheroes and villains are expected to?
