paper marbling
fill a tray with water. blow, fan, stir, dab, and drag paint or colored ink across its surface. put a sheet of washi paper on top to stain it with the floating art.
though called “turkish” paper marbling by europeans, this design technique was developed in east asia, central asia, and the islamic world. it is an important part of turkic, tajik, indian, and other asian and middle eastern cultures.

A beautiful reference book. I bought mine from Kinokinuya when I was living in California.
I WANT THIS. I NEED THIS. WHERE CAN I GET IT?

According to my psychology professor, we do not exist.
According to her, we are wrong for existing.
My professor flat out said this morning that she does not “believe” in bisexuals. She proceeded to say that the only valid and real orientations are heterosexual, and homosexual, and nothing else exists. There is no in between, and if we believe we are anything but hetero or homo, we are just confused, and mislead.
She also believes transgender people are just confused.
So basically, to her, we are mythical creatures. We are unicorns, from a magical fairyland.
Reblog this if you are a fucking magical unicorn.
Reblog this if you believe orientation shouldn’t even fucking matter.
Reblog this if you believe orientation is a spectrum, and it is NOT black and white.
Reblog this if you know you exist.

When I was in Boston this weekend I took my friend to Copley Square because it has, in my experience, two of the most beautiful churches in the country. Outside of Old South Church (a United Church of Christ church), there was this sign. Big. And it was amazing how great I felt to see Trans on there. I imagine it would be the same for someone who was homeless or a recovering addict or bisexual or something else that people often judge you for - or who had an identity that has made other religious communities abandon you or shame you. It also wasn’t just listed with things that are “problems” or difficult. It was listed with Male and Female, with Nerd and Cool Kid… I just think this sign is so powerful and I wanted to share it with everyone.
I like the idea of a church saying directly and publicly “Hey you’re trans (and this and this and that) and you’re ‘beloved.’”
“Beloved” brought tears to my eyes.
YOU ARE DOING CHRISTIANITY RIGHT. <3
I don’t see things like this often enough, so when I saw this, I thought I should share. Because sometimes, even a jaded skeptic atheist like me can be made to smile when they do it right.

[[Most gorgeous thing I’ve seen all fuckin’ day]]
I want to go here.
They truly are beautiful churches, even more so now though.
So much love for those with so much love.
If more religions were like this, I doubt I’d hate religion as much as I do.
